About the Data Skills Index
An independent, weekly index of which skills data & AI employers ask for, and what they pay. Free to read, aggregates only.
What it is
Every day we snapshot open job postings from 10,956 company job boards, keep the 13,139 that are data, analytics and AI roles, and measure how often each of 151 skills is mentioned and what postings with published pay offer. The index, skill pages and role pages are rebuilt from that data.
How the data is collected
A scheduled job reads the public, no-login job-board APIs that companies use to publish their own openings, at a slow, rate-limited pace. Job titles are classified into role families and levels with fixed rules, and skills are matched against a fixed taxonomy. We publish only counts, shares and medians, never posting text, titles, links or per-company figures. Full details are in the methodology.

The list of boards was seeded from the LastRound AI ATS directory (CC BY 4.0) and the Job board directory (CC0). We don't scrape LinkedIn, Indeed or any site whose terms forbid it.
